Phill Hatton's art practice spans oil painting, traditional dry media and digital illustration. His work is unified by a sustained interest in the human figure and psychology but is unusually varied in terms of visual language. This is deliberate and serves to differentiate each series of paintings and catalyse artistic growth.

Studio works completed, in progress or planned cover themes of emotion, identity, truth, mortality, imagination, fantasy and discovery. They range from large-scale mythological oil paintings to intimate figure studies and character-driven digital portraits, but all share a commitment to expressive mark-making, strong value composition and emotional resonance over photorealism.

Phill comes from a family with a strong artistic tradition — his grandfather Ernest was a portrait and landscape painter, and his father Steve a draftsman and comic artist. He lives with his wife and children in Guildford, Surrey.
