Information
Oil paintings
Phill works on stretched canvas or cradled panel. His preferred ranges are Winsor & Newton Artists oil colours and R&F or Sennelier pigment sticks. Each piece is allowed to fully dry in the studio before varnishing to revive colour and protect the painting.
Digital works
All digital works have zero AI content and are hand-painted. Photography is used by Phill for reference only unless it is a scan of his own original drawing.
Pastels
Phill uses Rembrandt extra fine quality soft pastels on tinted paper and will occasionally combine these with pencil, charcoal. ink or paint marker.
Drawings
A sketching discipline underpins Phill's artistic practice and he regularly draws the figure from life. These can sometimes stand alone but will often support the development of a painting or digital piece. Conté pencil and charcoal are his current go to dry media.
Commissions
Phill accepts commissions for (human) portraits and figurative pieces where visions align. Enquiries are always welcome.
